1. Set Up a Most Default Rate for Calls

Setting up an utmost default rate, check the number of outbound calls made.

When you or your sales team make outbound calls, you just make calls necessary to conduct business. Naturally, therefore, you'll be able to spot any additional calls.

Your outgoing call cap amount will vary depending on the number of calls your business requires. Therefore, when setting up a default rate for outgoing calls, ensure you and your team know this number.

When the lot of calls exceeds your cap, that turns a red flag for fraud; catching fraud soon will help protect your account and your business, and setting up the greatest call rate is a simple measure you can take.

If your account is being hacked after your cap, it'll be simpler to monitor the calls your hacker makes. But tracking their calls won't be easy if your account catches hacked before your cap.

When a hacker gets into your system, they can only make and receive calls if they know your IP address.

Regrettably, your IP address can still be found. But this measure informs you when an unknown source tries to enter your IP address.

Does your company phone have a static or dynamic IP address? Are you uncertain if your phone is fixed or dynamic? A static IP address is a permanent IP address, and a dynamic IP address is a temporary IP address.

Establishing an IP-based authentication protocol is more accessible with a static phone. First, identify the IP address, and consider having a static IP address to enable authentication.

Do you employ a landline or a mobile phone? Setting IP-based authentication is more effortless for landlines but can be done with a mobile phone when utilizing a third party.

4. Barring Calls

5. Set up Unique Passwords on Your Phone's System

Never use a default, simple, or similar password for your phone line. A general method of SIP trunk fraud is hacking into your account, which can be done by entering default or common passwords.

When you create a new phone account, instantly change the password. First, make sure it's a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols only you would know. Then, store the password in a safe place so you can access it.

If everybody on your team has access to this password, your team must keep this password safe. Train your team on fraud and why they can't disclose the password to anyone.

Fiber infrastructure services in Canada are gaining stronger importance as public funding and private investment continue to push broadband networks into rural, remote and Indigenous communities. The CRTC’s Broadband Fund remains a major driver. The regulator says its fund is designed to help ensure Canadians have access to reliable high-speed internet and cellphone services regardless of where they live, with emphasis on underserved rural, remote and Indigenous communities. The fourth call for applications is open until August 13, 2026. This creates ongoing demand for fiber infrastructure service providers that can manage difficult builds. Rural fiber projects often require long routes, sparse customer density, weather exposure and coordination with local authorities. The economics are different from urban builds, where more customers can be served across shorter distances. The CRTC has already allocated about $769 million to broadband projects that serve more than 54,000 homes across more than 320 communities.
