Telecom testing is under the radar as 5G adoption can slow existing testing infrastructure.
FREMONT, CA: One of the biggest challenges facing the sector in 2023 will be how it copes with inflation, particularly rising energy costs and any price increases passed on to customers. Duplex methods: Among 5G's features are flexible duplexing. The time or frequencies are allocated based on the load in either direction, division-free duplexing or a single channel full duplexing scheme. On the same channel, 5G would allow simultaneous transmission and reception.
Massive multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO): While MIMO is being used in many applications, from LTE to Wi-Fi, the amount of antennas is quite limited. Due to the antenna sizes and spacing in terms of wavelength, using many tens of antennas on one piece of equipment is possible when using microwave frequencies.
Smart antennas: The use of smart antennas will also be an integral part of any 5G cellular network. Through these technologies, direct communications will be possible, interference will be reduced, and cell capacity will be improved.
Advanced channel coding design: A new code for mobile broadband traffic profiles with a multi-Gbps throughput and larger coding block sizes that increases the performance envelope of an LTE Turbo code while delivering multi-Gbps throughput.
Device-centric mobility: Along with downlink-centric mobility, 5G new radio (NR) also supports uplink-centric mobility, in which devices send periodic reference signals to the access network. Depending on the strength of the uplink signal, the network may reselect cells.
Intelligently connecting the massive Internet of Things: The goal of 5G NR is to connect the Internet of Things. Narrowband IoT laid the foundation for massive 5G IoT. It introduces new techniques that best use the precious network and spectrum resources to connect IoT devices and services more efficiently.
