United Telecom Systems (UTS) LLC has been recognized by Telecom Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top 10 Antenna Systems Companies - 2023,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry. This profile has been developed by the Telecom Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Salvatore Iovino, President.
Salvatore Iovino, PresidentThe telecom workforce is very limited. There are only an estimated 12,000-15,000 tower climbers nationwide, which is significantly less given that thousands of sites need to be managed annually. In addition, the workforce is constantly changing with the evolving economic scenario.
In a rapidly changing market, it is important to observe and predict trends as a business owner and/or professional. They need to invest in company culture with contemporary and curated professional development opportunities. Creating a workplace that is fun and engaging will keep employees happy and interested, but it needs to be authentic and not forced.
We believe it is not enough to simply meet our clients’ expectations by doing what is required; we intend to exceed those expectations
UTS knows the value and importance of completing jobs in a timely manner, balancing expenses, and creating precise and accurate closeout packages in order to achieve a successful project. The company provides solutions for all of the highly demanding projects, including small cell, DAS, tower mods, overlays, and fiber backhaul systems. They help clients exceed expectations in the telecommunications industry by meeting important deadlines and working with excellence in every job they take on.
“We believe it is not enough to simply meet our clients’ expectations by doing what is required; we intend to exceed those expectations,” says Salvatore Iovino, president, UTS. “Our desire to do more enables us to find new ways to improve our business and hopefully provide a lead for others to follow.”
As an example, UTS was able to increase crew capacity while maintaining a high employee retention rate for one of its customers who faced strict deadlines from the federal communications commission (FCC) during the Covid 19 pandemic. The company strengthened project management efforts by spending more time staying proactive with business logistics and improving communication between management and crew members. This naturally improved the work culture, which increased employee retention. UTS was able to complete all the contracted work by the FCC deadline, which totaled around $15,000,000.
It is important to UTS that its employees have the freedom to be innovative and share new ideas. The company fosters an innovative environment through transparency. They hold weekly meetings to discuss the growth of the company and new business opportunities and take time to celebrate wins and discuss ways to improve. This transparent culture gives all employees insight beyond the work they do individually into how that work ties to the larger organizational goals. UTS promotes a culture of positivity and the belief that a positive attitude will bring about positive outcomes.
“Every year, new technologies are deployed, and new safety compliances are implemented. It is important for our company to ensure all our employees are being trained to the most up-to-date standards and procedures,” says Iovino.
UTS prides itself on becoming the #1 vendor for customers in the Southeast Region. It takes a great and well-rounded team to achieve such accolades, and the company shares the honor of accomplishments with the entire team. They value employees and share all employee recognition internally and externally.
