VEGA has been recognized by Telecom Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top In Building Wireless Communication Solutions In Canada 2026,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “Top DAS Services in Canada,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the Telecom Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Eric Poirier, VP of Corporate Development.
Standard wireless solutions are often insufficient for demanding environments like high-rise buildings, hospitals, transit hubs and underground facilities.
These obstacles are precisely the kind of engineering challenge that defines VEGA’s work. A specialist in customized Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and wireless coverage, the company provides solutions for Canada’s most demanding wireless environments, including office towers, parking structures, underground transit systems and marine infrastructure. It brings an end-to-end technical approach that covers design, carrier approvals, installation and long-term maintenance.
VEGA caters to wireless carriers, government agencies, businesses and select residential clients. Across all operations, it combines three core strengths—technical expertise, turnkey project delivery and speed and agility in execution—which allow it to manage demanding design requirements and operational timelines.
“We understand the complexity and behavior of carrier networks across different networks and locations,” says Eric Poirier, VP of corporate development. “When it's complex, they always say, call VEGA.”
VEGA's foundation rests on the decades of wireless communications experience brought by Poirier and Marco Asselin, VP of operations. Prior to founding the company, Poirier led emergency wireless initiatives and participated in the deployment of some of Canada's early mobile cellular infrastructure, while Asselin spent years working across complex wireless environments, finding ways to solve problems that conventional solutions can’t.
Since launching VEGA 12 years ago, the founders have applied that experience to design systems incorporating network behavior, device performance and carrier-specific requirements into each design. In one project, VEGA engineered wireless coverage for elevator systems inside the concrete towers of Montreal’s Champlain Bridge—a challenge other providers were unable to solve. This required maintaining connectivity in heavily shielded elevator shafts with extremely limited installation access.
Adapting to Carrier Requirements and Location Specifics
VEGA also works with carriers such as Rogers, Bell and Telus, providing design, installation and maintenance services that support wireless infrastructure across a range of environments.
Its coverage strategies are adapted around carrier requirements, building structure and mobility conditions.
VEGA takes into account how networks manage frequencies in different ways. In one deployment aboard a 250-car ferry sailing from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland, VEGA designed a DAS that maintained coverage as the vessel navigated changing signal conditions along the route. It also maintained consistent coordination with carriers to adjust network coverage while working within a limited installation timeline before sailing.
Delivering End-to-End Support and Coordination
For VEGA, wireless deployment extends well beyond the point of installation. It remains engaged with partners and clients as systems move from design and carrier approvals into ongoing operation, maintenance and performance management.
In high-density environments such as metros, underground tunnels and large public facilities, wireless performance can be influenced by structural conditions, passenger movement and network demand. VEGA supports these deployments through ongoing maintenance and coordination with carriers to help ensure consistent coverage. For example, when new frequencies are implemented, Vega works with carriers to ensure flawless overnight changes, making sure end users are not impacted.
The same level of coordination applies to deployments involving temporary carrier infrastructure. During the Canadian Open, carriers introduced cellular-on-wheels mobile sites to strengthen outdoor coverage, while VEGA adapted internal wireless systems to those conditions. This involved ensuring the systems operated alongside existing infrastructure without disrupting broader network performance once the temporary coverage enhancements were removed.
VEGA continues to serve as the partner carriers, government agencies and enterprises turn to when high-performance wireless coverage and reliable connectivity must be delivered in the most challenging environments.
