Telecom consultants employ Project Managers who are experienced professionals aware of all the possible pitfalls and steps to take to avoid them.
Fremont, CA: So many things can go astray during a business telephone or internet service installation. The preference is yours; depending on your carrier representative, you can use the process alone to work on all possible problems or engage a telecom consultant who has worked on hundreds of installations.

There can be hundreds of strings in a phone closet. If a phone company tech stimulates a group of lines but doesn’t “tag” or detect them, it can be extremely hard for your vendor to locate them and complete the installation.
Obtaining a phone company technician back out to the site can be a struggle, so this could postpone an order for hours and cost you money. The final thing anyone wants to do is pay their phone vendor to wait for the phone company tech to recur and identify the lines he or she installed earlier.
Incumbent rejects porting request:
This could be the last gasp effort by the telecom company losing your business to derail an order. They can refuse a phone number porting request for several reasons, including your business name is little different than what appears on their bill; all the phone numbers aren’t accounted for or anything else they can think of. Generally, every time a porting request is rejected, the order is automatically delayed ten business days. Any delay demands you to reschedule your phone and IT vendors. If this happens many times, it can turn into a hassle. Some customers become upset and cancel their orders.
The local loop doesn’t get installed:
Even if one of their competitors provides the service, the incumbent phone company technician installs the local loop. Your order can’t be finished until the local loop is installed. If you order a service from a phone company’s competitors and one of its techs appears with a service order, you might get puzzled and turn them away. I’ve had greater than one customer does just that. Delaying the installation of the local loop creates a domino effect, and everything is delayed.
PIC code doesn’t get added to a line or lines:
All phone line desires to be assigned a Primary Interlata Carrier (PIC) code, or any long-distance calls made from the line will be based on Casual Billing, which can be mega expensive. If a business has many phone lines, it’s not uncommon for a few to fall through the cracks. The prime time for something like this is during conversion from one carrier to another.
Tech no shows appears early or late:
In case you’re at home, and the phone company technician is delayed, you watch TV, snack on nachos, and the whole is okay. If you’re a business and deploy your phone and IT work, those are two entities you require to program around your installation.
In case the phone company tech is late, you’ll have to pay your vendors to sit around and wait. If the phone company tech is ahead of time, there won’t be a handoff, and your vendors might have difficulty completing their work.
